APRIL POSTED: Just look at him. Who wouldn’t love this guy? Have you ever met anyone who doesn’t like our Dad? I would have to say you never have and never will. As I began thinking about what to write and pulled up the first picture on my computer of our Pops, tears filled my eyes. Our Dad truly is a wonderful man.
Where do I start? Our dear ol’ Dad, what a guy. He is so steady, stable and faithful. He never complains, he’s tough, he’s smart, he knows how to fix things, he’s patient, a good listener, he’s true, he respects others, he is empathetic, he’s kind, he’s humble, he’s funny and has a great sense of humor, he’s a great story teller, a master of the outdoors, a marvelous teacher, he honors his priesthood, he’s adventurous and has many Mcgiver type qualities, he’s an awesome gardener, he appreciates nature, he loves the gospel, he knows how to build things, work on cars, provide for our family and be manly, yet he also is a good cook, house cleaner, and dish doer. What can’t our Dad do? What hasn’t our Dad done for us?
I am so very grateful for you Dad. And I can say this for my sisters as well, that we all dreamed of being able to marry a man like you when we grew up. Youv’e been such a wonderful father to us and a great husband to Mom. Your good qualities and characteristics are inumerable.
Every one of your kids looks up to you and respects you greatly. What you say means alot to us. Growing up you have done so much for our hearts. You’ve listened to us, corrected us, and supported us in all that we’ve done (that was good).
You’ve also taught us how to recognize fox poop, raccoon and deer prints, wild strawberries, and the flight of a sparrow. I love this knowledge you’ve bestowed upon us!
I remember when you took the time to teach me how to clean the bathroom right. I remember how you taught me how a toilet was properly scrubbed. I remember the stories you told us about Ranger Rick that comforted me in our new home in El Dorado Hills. I remember many talks with you in the garden as we pulled weeds or picked green beans. I remember more talks with you too as we did the dishes together. I remeber you helping me set and reach goals like the purchase of my first car. And then helping and teaching me how to change the oil and brakes. The time that you spent with me, showing me that you would listen and love me, have deeply blessed my life, and still do, more than you will ever know Dad. Those moments and that love you gave were so important to me and meant so much that still now, during hard times, I can look back on those memories and am still able to find comfort and love from them.
I am grateful to you because through your example and love, I have greater faith and trust in my relationship with my Heavenly Father. You have led me to Him and have helped me believe that He can be who He is, as you are like Him in various ways. Thank you Dad. Thank you so very much for your sacrifices, your love, your counsel, your patience, your guidance, and your support.
I really can’t imagine a greater Dad than you!
I love you and Happy Father’s Day!!!!
