Bear Lake Crowned “Lake of the Week”
Surprise! We spent our Saturday spending inordinate amounts of time in a boat. It’s a sad fact that summer is wrapping up and we had our first low 80 degree day in a while. Despite it’s nickname as the “Caribbean of the Rockies” Bear Lake isn’t known for warm water– and while 68-69 degrees is really refreshing on a hot summer day, 80 degrees with a cool breeze isn’t “warm” per se when you’re wet, so we spent most of the day whimpering when it was our turn to get in. Still, it’s always a good time when you can get 3 dudes out on a (quickly deflating) tube designed for kids, fold them into a taco and whip them around like they deserve it. I squealed and flopped like a sissy, while The Punsihers (ie- our wives) on the boat squealed with delight and took pictures at our expense.
Please note that the single foot you see at the end of this series is mine, as the rest of my body is greeting the depths of Bear Lake at roughly 25-30 miles per hour. Mmmmm… feels good!
As previously mentioned, Ben came with us and actually took to the wakeboarding like a champ, as you can see here:
I kid. He took to it very well, but got a little squeamish when it came to jumping (something about a Bear Lake punch to his soft parts). So, he rode and surf carved. And surf carved. And surf carved. And surf carved. Behold said riding and surf carving (which, I must say, he does make look good).
MC did get some pictures of me this time out. They’re nothing special, but I was getting a little higher than I thought I was, so here’s me doing my best to show off without doing anything actually tricksy (Hoochie Glide to Fakie, Scarecrows… IE- anything that would give me a facial enema with a bad landing).
And MC? Tearing it up and looking good doing it: (Hominah-Hominah)

Wooowooo, Dan. Lookin good!
